Hollar's print is based on a Holbein portrait (Royal Collection) painted in 1527. Sir Henry Guildford appears bust length wearing a cap and chain, holding a staff of office, and the is image contained in a rondel. Guildford served Henry VIII as master of the revels and organized ceremonies at Greenwich in 1527 to receive an embassy sent by king Francis I to mark a peace accord between France and England (for Hollar's pendant etching of Sir Henry's wife Mary, Lady Guildford, also after Holbein, see 51.501.2107).
