Guniea Fowl

Janet Elizabeth Turner American

Not on view

Turner made this print while teaching at Stephen F. Austin State College in Texas between 1947 and 1956. During this period she also competed in juried shows, including one held at The Metropolitan Museum of Art in 1950. As is typical, her design was inspired by the distinctive anatomies and plumage of birds, Here the flat surface effects characteristic of linoleum prints are combined with unusually delicate cutting, and the broad range of colors is achieved through mulitple overlaid impressions.
