In the Scottish Highlands three men crouch behind a small hill, stalking deer. One aims a gun over the hill, another has one foot in a stream and holds two deerhounds. All wear elements of Scottish dress. Two may portray the celebrated poachers Charles Mackintosh and Malcolm Clarke. Based on a painting shown at the Royal Academy inwew 1831 titled "Poachers Deerstalking."
