The red-figure vases in this case illustrate the so-called Plain Style in Apulian vase-painting, characterized by large shapes and non-mythological subjects depicted simply, with a uniform ground line and few filling ornaments. In the absence of mythological scenes, most of which originated in Greece, local practices and objects come to the fore.
