Gustav Stickley American

Gustav Stickley established a metalwork department at United Crafts, later the Craftsman Workshops, in 1902. It produced hardware for the firm’s furniture as well as decorative metalwork objects distinguished by robust bodies and patinas of rich and often contrasting colorations that accentuate light-catching hammered surfaces. Such a humidor would have been a prominent feature of a gentleman’s living space in a period when cigar smoking was a popular male leisure activity.
