Morgan Stallion

Cast by Gorham Manufacturing Company American

On view at The Met Fifth Avenue in Gallery 774

Proctor was an accomplished modeler of equine subjects, returning to the theme throughout his career in both monumental works and his finely wrought statuettes. In this statuette of a Morgan stallion, Proctor has portrayed an American horse bred for its strength and lightness. He created a naturalistic representation that emphasizes the striking silhouette characteristic of the breed.
