A visitor enjoying the Audio Guide entry for Antonio Canova's Perseus with the Head of Medusa, The Metroplitan Museum of Art, New York, Fletcher Fund, 1967 (67.110.1).
«We like to think that the language of art is universal, but a museum like the Met, with an audience that is forty percent international, cannot ignore the global scope of its visitors. There are some days when the Met's Great Hall is a glorious cacophony of languages from all over the world—and from all over New York.»
My audio tour was designed to allow visitors to explore a broad range of the Met's collections, including aspects of the building and the Museum's history. It will be all the more effective now that it is available in eight languages—English, French, German, Italian, Japanese, Korean, Mandarin, and Spanish.
Whether from China or Chinatown, students of French or tourists from Paris, first-time visitors or fans from across the globe—all who engage with these languages will find that a wonderful visit to the Met awaits them.
