London periodicals regularly published maps that documented events unfolding during the Revolutionary War (1775-81) and this plan appeared in the recently launched Political Magazine. It describes the British fleet's attack on Fort Sullivan, Charleston, South Carolina, led by Admiral Peter Parker on on June 28, 1776. The map locates the British 1st and 2nd brigades and fleet opposite Camp Sullivan as well as the American ("Rebel") Ships located off of Charlestown Neck. On this occasion, the British attack failed and the fleet were forced to retreat to New York.
