This colorful catalog is from Trenton Doyle Hancock’s immersive multi-media exhibition at Mass MoCA. The playful dust jacket features a self-portrait of the artist with a surprise cut-out revealing a patch underneath adhered to a hot pink hardcover. Through large sculptural installations, painting and performance, Hancock tells the story of the Mounds—his mythical creation of ancient half-human and half-plant creatures—exploring themes of good versus evil, race, moral relativism, and religion.
