Blue House

Alice Neel American

Not on view

A riot of bright color, lyrical brushwork, and meandering line, the psychedelic Blue House depicts a scene near the artist’s summer home on the Jersey Shore. As seen here, Neel consistently exploited the full potential of paint as a medium, extracting from it artistic effects that exceed that which they represent.
