Dvarapalas
Not on view
These plaques were recovered from the relic chamber of the Khin Ba stupa at the Pyu city of Sri Ksetra. They depict dvarapalas, guardians of sacred spaces. These miniature representations have small holes around the border, suggesting that they were fixed to a surface, probably the pedestal of a Buddha image. Both share a Gupta aesthetic, widely adopted in sixth- and seventh-century mainland Southeast Asian art.
