U2’s guitarist the Edge helped pioneer the use of analog delay effects within the structure of rock music, redefining the electric guitar as an atmospheric, textural instrument. Acquired in 1986, this Stratocaster was his primary instrument on The Joshua Tree album and tour (1986–88), and most recently on the tour commemorating the thirtieth anniversary of its release.

Technical Description:
Contoured alder body, maple neck with walnut “skunk stripe”; 25 ½ in. scale; black finish over original walnut brown; bolt-on neck with black dot inlays; black Fender logo decal on headstock; three single-coil pickups, three-way pickup selector, one volume and two tone controls; chrome “synchronized tremolo” vibrato bridge with brass saddles, chrome Sperzel locking tuners, three-bolt "F" logo neck plate, and recessed input jack, white plastic knobs and pickguard; bridge, vibrato system, and tuners replaced, original walnut brown refinished in black, headstock break repaired with walnut plugs, U2 Joshua Tree Tour 2017 and The Edge signature picks attached to pickguard, "2" decal on lower back of guitar
