Melody of Dawn

Lu Fang Chinese

Not on view

This poetic work of a lone boat on a misty river transforms traditional Chinese landscape painting into the print medium, and exemplifies the traditional watercolor woodcut technique at its best. Natural wood grain is used to indicate the rough surface of the mountains. Sensitively rendered ink and color gradations create a hazy atmosphere.

A native of Kunshan in Jiangsu Province, Lu Fang has participated in international exhibitions in China, the United States, and Tokyo.
