Boy's jacket
Not on view
A Western-style fitted scout’s jacket provided the pattern for this fringed coat, which is finished with cloth edging and fastened with buttons. A young boy probably wore the garment for ceremonial occasions, parades, and community celebrations. Beaded images of deer or elk heads, stars, and abstract floral motifs provide protection, and spiritual power is transmitted through the wavy beaded lines that connect them.
