The decoration on this brush pot is described as being in the “Master of the Rocks” style for the striking lines of cobalt used to add texture to the rocks and mountains. The poem reads:

Clouds passing the sheer cliff spread embroidery and brocade,
Sparse pines lining the waters play the reed pipes.
