Page of book containing 185 leaves with a collection of lithographs, aquatints, engravings, and other media, with ornamental designs published by Fleury Chavant in Paris, part of the publication "Guide du Dessinateur de l'industrie: une macédoine de dessins variés , tels que fleurs, ornemens, etc. ... Ouvrage destiné aux fabricants et dessinateurs de soieries... et Papiers Peints..." This plate contains two designs for borders, illustrated horizontally on the upper part of the sheet, one with alternating lozenges and hexagons, decorated with stylized fleurs de lis and other stylized flowers, and the other with interlacing circles and pointed arches, decorated with scrolling motifs, spades, stylized fleurs de lis, and palmettes. Below them are four vertical designs for ribbons or borders: the first with an undulating garland of stylized flowers and leaves, with offsetting scrolling branches, the second with bundles of scrolling, stylized acanthus leaves and stylized flowers and leaves, the third with an undulating garland of acanthus leaves with branches that scroll around alternating stylized flowers and pointed-edged rosettes, and the last with teardrop shapes made up of branches with stylized flowers at the ends, filled with palmettes. The designs are lithographed with black ink on thin, light brown paper.
