Photo-lithograph of engravings for nineteenth-century jewelry, possibly commemorating the jewelry exposed at the Centennial Exhibition, or World Fair, which took place in Philadelphia in 1876, to celebrate the hundred years of independence of the United States. The heading of the sheet is made up of interlacing ribbons, formed around a wreath of laurel leaves, and decorated with the flags of Switzerland and Japan; the words "CENTENNIAL JEWELRY, SWISS, JAPAN" inscribed in the ribbons. Under the heading, the sheet is separated into two: the space on the left containing designs for pendants, brooches, and a necklace or bracelet, most made up of oval frames with scrolling motifs, leaves, and pearls or diamonds, and all likely of Swiss design and manufacture; the space on the right has designs for fan panels, and one brooch, all with Oriental naturalistic motifs, likely of Japanese creation.
