Charlot created this woodcut to accompany an article in El Machete, a worker-oriented newspaper founded in 1924, but the illustration was never published. Given its size, the print may have been meant to accompany a ballad (corrido). Many years after creating it, Charlot described the image as representing a point of contact with the political artists around him, noting that "none of us had much love for the rich."
Charlot creó esta xilografía para un artículo de El Machete, un periódico dirigido a los trabajadores que se fundó en 1924, pero la ilustración no llegó a publicarse. Dado su tamaño, es posible que fuera concebida para acompañar a un corrido. Muchos años después de crearla, Charlot explicó que la imagen representaba un punto en común con los artistas políticos que lo rodeaban, ya que, en sus propias palabras, «ninguno de nosotros sentía gran aprecio por los ricos».
