Censer
Not on view
Cast bronze censers with depictions of Gospel scenes were in use in the eastern Mediterranean by many religious communities from the period leading up to the Arab conquest in the seventh century to at least the thirteenth century. Standing out in strong relief on this censer are six Gospel scenes, starting with the Annunciation followed by the Visitation, Incredulity of Thomas, Nativity, Adoration of the Magi, and Ascension.
