Plate 1 of a series of designs for tombs. This design features a pyramid in front of an arched niche. In the pyramid is a niche for the bust of a man. Under this bust is a tablet with a garland and a skull. The angel sitting on the sarcophagus is writing on this tablet but not looking at it. On the ground on the right is a flaming torch.
