Artist and engraver De Lacollombe French

Not on view

Plate 11 of a series of plates of designs of ornaments for gunmakers. This plate shows a flintlock with dolphins, a hunting trophy and a scene depicting the godess Diana on a chariot drawn by stags. There is also a sideplate directly under it representing the same godess with a dog and winged children attendants. On the left side of the plate is a cock with an antique profile medallion. Next to it is a frizzen decorated with a mascaron with a crown and prominent mustache. Under the cock is a cartouche with an antique bust in profile. On the right side of the design is a butt decoration for a long gun and another sideplate.
In 1705, Simonin's first series of designs for gunsmiths was reedited with four plates of designs by De Lacollombe added. This plate was one of the added plates.
