Shabti of Taharqo

Third Intermediate Period

On view at The Met Fifth Avenue in Gallery 130

The Kushite kings who ruled Egypt were buried in their Nubian homeland; this shabti of King Taharqo is carved from a distinctive Nubian stone and is presumably from his pyramid at Nuri.
