Domes, a defining attribute of the Holy City, are especially prominent at the Aqsa Mosque and the Dome of the Rock. This domed lamp's combination of ogival arch and rose window, emblematic of Islamic and Christian architecture respectively, echoes the additions made by the Crusaders to the Aqsa Mosque when they dubbed it the Temple of Solomon.
