Carpet

Ningxia carpets came to the attention of the Kangxi emperor (r. 1662–1722) during a journey to the western provinces in 1696–97, and in the early part of the Qing dynasty, a number of Ningxia carpets were ordered for audience halls in the palace. This carpet contains elements often found in high-quality Ningxia carpets: curvilinear and geometric renderings of dragons, a swastika-like fret as seen in the border, and the characteristic outer edge of grayish brown.
