Not on view

In this rural scene, two children sit on a hay loaded into a wagon, drawn by oxen towards a small wooden bridge. A boy urges the animals forward, and a man and a dog walk behind. Carrying a rake and pitchfork, the man gestures to the children. In the left background are a barn and farmhouse set before distant hills. In the right background, a fisherman stands beside a brook. This print was published as a companion to "Haying-Time: The First Load," the pair engaging with the beginning and end of a day of harvesting.

The image was designed by Frances "Fanny" Flora Bond Palmer and John Cameron, lithographed by James Ives, and published by his firm, Currier and Ives.
