Girandole

On view at The Met Fifth Avenue in Gallery 729

A round gilded frame with convex glass such as this is often referred to as a girandole, or girandole mirror. The convex shape of the silvered glass, the gilded surface, and the cut glass of the branches combine to increase the throw of light from the candles.
