Tosh Matsumoto American
Not on view
Based in New York City, Matsumoto worked as a laboratory assistant for the fashion photographer John Rawlings. Pursuing photography in his spare time, he captured celebrations in Times Square during VJ (Victory over Japan) Day and participated in exhibitions at the New York Photo League and the Museum of Modern Art under the curatorship of Edward Steichen. This image of a discarded newspaper on the sleek surface of a parked car—from a series documenting a day-in-the-life of a newspaper—suggests the incidental traces left behind as we make our way through the city.
