Gilded silver cup with two handles
This vase, along with 1989.281.45-.48 are said to have been found together, are best paralleled by pieces found by Heinrich Schliemann at Troy in a stratigraphic level know as Troy II. The wealth of jewelry and objects from the latest phase, Troy IIg, led Schliemann to believe that he had found the city described by Homer. In reality, this material is datable to about a thousand years before the Trojan War.
