Silver spiral

Cypriot

On view at The Met Fifth Avenue in Gallery 171

Spirals of many coils, made in silver, gold, and bronze, had a very long history in Cyprus. Their form is so simple that they are virtually impossible to date. Their function is also unclear; they may have served to secure locks of hair or as finger rings.
