Vase

Spanish, Almería or Granada

Not on view

This flamboyant green vase from southern Spain reflects the region’s history of Islamic rule. In shape and decoration, it has more in common with glass from Syria and Egypt than from nearby Catalonia, where the glass was more Venetian in style at the time. Moore was an enthusiastic collector of glass from both regions of Spain, and works he acquired now make up large portion of The Met’s holdings in this area.
