The Wicked Pony
Frederic Remington American
Not on view
In his third sculpture, "The Wicked Pony," Remington reversed the dominance of the cowboy over horse depicted in his highly successful “Broncho Buster” (1986.81.2). Here the cowboy has been thrown to the ground and struggles to maintain a hold on the ear of his bucking horse. The Metropolitan’s bronze is almost certainly a posthumous, unauthorized cast done by Roman Bronze Works.
