Not on view

In recent years Nicolas Ghesquière has wielded an extraordinary influence on contemporary fashion as the designer for both Callaghan and Balenciaga. His use of jersey has come to be identified as one of the components of his signature style. Unlike past designers who worked in the material, however, Ghesquière prefers a more relaxed, almost deliberately negligent fall of the cloth across the body. His goddess dresses project a carefully composed and self-conscious nonchalance that separate them from their more historically reverential predecessors.
