The actor William Farren appears here in character as Sir Anthony Absolute in "The Rivals" by Richard Brinsley Sheridan. He wears a bob wig, a blue brocaded frockcoat over an old fashioned suit, and carries a cane and tricorne hat. The print was made to illustrate Kenrick's "The British Stage and Literary Cabinet," volume 1.
