Based on a painting of 1870, this engraved portrait shows the queen seated, wearing a coronet over a widow's cap with a long lace veil, earrings, a necklace with cross, a black dress trimmed with ermine, a sash adorned with the Garter jewel, and a bracelet centered on a miniature of the Prince Consort. The queen had lost her husband a decade before, in 1861.
