Engraving, part of 'Omnium pene Europae, Asiae, Aphricae atque Americae Gentium Habitus' (Costumes of the various nations of Europe, Asia, Africa and America), a series of prints representing figures from various parts of the world, engraved by Abraham de Bruyn and published by Joos de Bosscher in 1580.

This engraving represents the dress of a German noblewoman, the costume of a young German woman, a mantle for a a plebeian woman from Palatinatu, and a woman of Frankfurt in fine costume. On the left, the noblewoman wears a richly ornated dress with brocaded patterns with scrolling leaves, with borders made up of stripes of lozenges and pearls, trimmed with fur. The sleeves are long and striped, with ruffled cuffs, and she wears a ruff around her neck. She wears an open, fur-lined jubon over her dress, with striped sleeves hanging behind the openings of the arms. Her hair is pulled up with a net, and decorated by a small hat with no brim and a large feather. She wears a triple necklace with a pendant on the longest strant. She holds a pair of gloves in her right hand.

On the center-left, the young woman from Germany wears an ankle-length dress with an undulating pattern on the bodice, short puff sleeves over long puff sleeves with ruffled cuffs, and stripes on the skirt. A waistband holds an apron with a border with lozenges at the front of her skirt. A bag hangs from a belt at her left hip. She wears a small ruff and her hair is braided and helf up by a headband with lozenges. She holds a small rose in her right hand and a pair of gloves in her left hand.

On the center-right, the woman from Palatinatu wears a dress with a brocaded pattern of scrolling leaves on the bodice, with short puff sleeves over long puff sleeves with ruffled cuffs, and long skirt with stripes. The collar is also made up of small ruffles. A waistband holds an apron at the front of the skirt, which has a border made up of lozenges at the bottom. Her hair is fully covered by a fur hat, and a bag hangs from a belt at her right hip. She wears three pearl bracelets on each wrist and several rings on her fingers. She holds a handkerchief with tassels at the corners in her hands.

On the right, the woman from Frankfurt wears a dress with long puff sleeves, ruffled collar and cuffs, and long skirt with stripes. An apron with a pattern of lozenges on the lower border covers the frontal part of her skirt. A short cape with semi-abstract floral motifs and trimmed with fur covers her shoulders. Her hair is held up by a cap and a net. A bag hangs from a belt at her left hip.
