Designer Norma Minkowitz American

Not on view

When Norma Minkowitz was a child, her mother taught her to crochet. She translated this "women's work" into the primary technique of her sculpture and has continued to investigate the notion of containment. Most of her early pieces were baskets or boxes—containers that retained and questioned the outside/ inside emphasized by her suggestive titles.
