Bronze statuette of a bull

Greek, Boeotian

On view at The Met Fifth Avenue in Gallery 155

Inscribed in Greek, Thaletas dedicated me to the Kabeiroi

The Kabirion of Thebes, where this votive was found, was one of the most important mystery cult centers of the little-known divine Kabeiroi. Bronze bulls such as this were the most common type of dedication to be made there.
