This four-part series highlights the Museum's vast collection through an exploration of the theme "The Iconic vs. the Forgotten" across cultures. Four curators will select works of art from their respective departments that they feel represent this duality. Each curator will explore this theme in the context of the artist/maker, subject matter, discipline, or media.
Adam Eaker, Assistant Curator, on works in the Department of European Paintings
Melanie Holcomb, Curator, on works in the Department of Medieval Art and The Cloisters
Maryam Ekhtiar, Associate Curator, on works in the Department of Islamic Art
James Doyle, Assistant Curator, on works in the Department of the Arts of Africa, Oceania, and the Americas
