Mummy of Tasheriteniset with mummy mask and other cartonnage elements, also with garland of plants

Ptolemaic Period

On view at The Met Fifth Avenue in Gallery 133

This is the mummified body of a woman named Tasheriteniset, which still includes the original linen wrappings. Her mummy mask depicts earrings and a headband with a golden wedjat eye amulet. A long, vegetal collar was placed on her chest and she has a painted foot covering made out of linen mixed with plaster (called cartonnage).
