Miuccia Prada's signature utility chic style defined the minimalist aesthetic of the mid-1990s, as can be seen in this belted nylon dress, caught in the middle between a schoolgirl and military uniform. In a nod to the French futurist fashion of the 1960s as expressed by André Courrèges, this dress represents a freedom of spirit and movement for the woman who wears it, by a designer who puts women's position in society at the forefront of her design philosophy.
