'Plenas'

'Plenas' is a style of Puerto Rican music with a highly syncopated rhythm and often satirical lyrics. This publication contains an introduction by Blanco and 12 signed prints. Each print illustrates a Puerto Rican folk song, including the score and the words.The prints are separate and folded with a linocut vignette on the verso of each (folded to form the cover). The songs are transcribed on a separate sheet at the back. This copy is numbered 731 out of 850. The designer of the publication is Irena Delano and it is dedicated to Manuel Jiménez 'el canario' (1895–1975) a Puerto Rican musician famous for his work in the plena style.
