This tall elegant jug is a Base Ring Ware vessel, characterized by a ring base and thin, hard walls that exhibit a metallic quality. The neck and body are decorated in relief with narrow bands and scrolls grooved to look like ropes. Base Ring Ware vases were handmade and produced over a long period, beginning around 1600 B.C. and continuing into the first half of the twelfth century B.C.
