    North Africa
    Linen, silk; 76 x 13 1/2 in. (193 x 34.3 cm)
    Anonymous Gift, 1969 (69.142.2)

Textile panels such as this with borders on three sides were joined and hung vertically as curtains. Many of them were finely embroidered and were intended to adorn beds, specifically those in bridal chambers. Typically the design of these panels is a vertical row of five or more floral medallions running down the center.
