Composite body with underglaze paint; W. 7 1/2 in. (19.1 cm)
Rogers Fund, 1967 (67.69.4)
The design of this tile was strongly influenced by Chinese models, in both composition and color. The Egyptian taste for blue-and-white botanical designs was filtered through Iranian versions from the Ilkhanid period (12561353). It is known that Iranian artists moved westward at the beginning of the fifteenth century.
