Reiko Sudo (Japanese, born 1953); Manufacturer: NUNO Corporation
    Stainless steel, cotton

    L. 240 1/2 in. (610.9 cm), W. 46 in. (116.8 cm)
Gift of Nuno Corporation, 2001 (2001.348.1)

Reiko Sudo is inspired by how stainless-steel pots and pans burn to a beautiful opalescence over a burner flame. This loosely woven stainless-steel broadcloth was held over an open flame, and the gas jets marked stripes across the surface creating the pattern.
