Many examples of ceramic wares produced during the later Three Kingdoms period reflect the influence of metalware forms. The rigid profile and raised ridges encircling the body of this imposing double-handled vessel, for example, are characteristic of contemporaneous metal vessels that potters mimicked.
This stoneware vessel is rare both in its form and in its large size. Such innovative forms are typical of objects produced in the southwestern kingdom of Baekje.
