Spectrum

Spectrum is an initiative organized by The Metropolitan Museum of Art to provide fresh perspectives on the Met's collections and special exhibitions. Spectrum events offer the chance to interact with contemporary artists, to discuss art, music, video, and new media, and to socialize with other Museum fans.

  • Spectrum Celebrates the New Galleries

    At this special evening event, Spectrum celebrated the New Galleries for the Art of the Arab Lands, Turkey, Iran, Central Asia, and Later South Asia.

  • Oktoberfest at The Cloisters

    Spectrum celebrated Oktoberfest in one of New York City's most enchanting settings: The Cloisters museum and gardens.

  • St. Vincent on the Roof

    St. Vincent took the stage for the first-ever concert on the Iris and B. Gerald Cantor Roof Garden.

  • Shen Wei Dance Arts

    Shen Wei Dance Arts performed in the Charles Engelhard Court as part of the Concerts & Lectures department's Muriel Kallis Steinberg Newman Series.

  • Glen Hansard and Guitar Heroes

    Spectrum welcomed musician Glen Hansard to the Met to play a special acoustic set in celebration of the exhibition Guitar Heroes: Legendary Craftsmen from Italy to New York.

  • An Evening with Duke Special

    Irish musical sensation Duke Special collaborated with Spectrum at The Metropolitan Museum of Art to write all new songs inspired by photographs from the exhibition Stieglitz, Steichen, Strand.

  • An Evening with Guster and Jon Sarkin

    Spectrum was thrilled to present an evening of art and music featuring Guster, an alternative rock band, and Jon Sarkin, an American folk artist.

  • An Evening with Katrin Sigurdardottir

    Katrin Sigurdardottir discussed her two sculptural installations created specifically for the Metropolitan.

  • Check In With Spectrum

    In honor of NYC's Internet Week, we celebrated the Met's newest social media endeavors during a special evening at the Museum.

  • Artists Den Presents Ringo Starr and Ben Harper

    The Metropolitan Museum was excited to host the Artists Den for a filming of an episode of their innovative hit TV series Live from the Artists Den.

  • The Moth at the Met: American Stories

    The evening of storytelling, hosted by author Jonathan Ames, was inspired by the special exhibitions American Stories: Paintings of Everyday Life, 1765–1915 and Looking In: Robert Frank's The Americans.

  • An Evening With Pablo Bronstein

    Pablo Bronstein discussed his approach to the special exhibition, Pablo Bronstein at the Met, which featured two newly created works addressing the very nature of a museum.
