The Met Elects New Trustee Jeff Himmelman

(New York, November 11, 2020)— The Board of Trustees of The Metropolitan Museum of Art announced today that it has elected Jeff Himmelman. The election took place at the November 10 meeting of the Board; Mr. Himmelman will serve as Elective Trustee.

“We are so thrilled to welcome Mr. Himmelman to the Board and look forward to working with him,” stated Mr. Brodsky, in making the announcement.

Mr. Himmelman is the Vice President of the Sherman Fairchild Foundation, which has supported The Met for nearly fifty years. He is the author of Yours in Truth: A Personal Portrait of Ben Bradlee (2012) and is currently at work on a book about Alcatraz. He has served as a contributing writer at the New York Times Magazine, where he was a finalist for a National Magazine Award, and he has also written for The Washington Post, New York magazine, and GQ, among other publications. His work with a team of reporters at the Post helped the paper secure the national reporting Pulitzer Prize for its post-9/11 coverage. A graduate of Yale College and a lifelong musician, he lives in Washington, D.C. with his wife and their three daughters.
