Quantcast
Revealing the Original

Jean-François de Lapérouse, conservator in the Department of Objects Conservation, discusses the ethical situations that objects conservators faced when restoring objects in the Museum's collection of Islamic art. By considering previous restorations and current ethical considerations, the conservators restored a wide variety of objects in unique ways.

The conservators' work is featured in the galleries as well as in the exhibition Making the Invisible Visible: Conservation and Islamic Art, on view April 2 through August 4, 2013.

Recorded April 7, 2013

The exhibition is made possible by The Hagop Kevorkian Fund.
