Special Membership Groups

The Met Apollo Circle is a special Membership group for young supporters of the Metropolitan Museum ages 21 to 39. The Met Apollo Circle Patrons, an upper level of The Met Apollo Circle, is an opportunity for Members ages 21 to 45 to develop a closer association with the Museum.

Proceeds from Met Apollo Circle Membership dues support The Met Apollo Circle Fund for Art Conservation, helping to preserve the Museum's collection for future generations. The Met has four distinct conservation departments, as well as specialized conservators devoted to Photographs, Asian Art, Arms and Armor, Musical Instruments, and The Costume Institute. The Met Apollo Circle Fund for Art Conservation benefits these departments by providing support for activities such as fellowships, publications, and critical conservation research.

Feel free to join at any time! Your Met Apollo Circle Membership begins the day you sign up and is active for one year. We have events year round, so no matter when you join you'll soon receive an invitation to a special event.

People who join as a couple will receive Membership cards and invitations with both names listed. If one person is unable to attend an event, the other person is welcome to bring a guest instead. People who join as individuals are welcome to bring a guest to our exclusive Met Apollo Circle events. On very rare occasions, due to space constraints, events are limited to Met Apollo Circle Members only.

We host an average of one event per month, often an evening reception and presentation or tour with a Met curator. We also host a variety of other special programs, including mini courses that provide in-depth looks into the work of the Museum's conservation, curatorial, and education departments; an annual supper club; visits to art collectors' homes to view private collections; and a rooftop reception and sunset viewing of an exhibition in the summer. One of our biggest events each year is The Met Apollo Circle Benefit in the fall.

Our Members come from diverse backgrounds and include students and professionals working in a wide array of fields, including art, design, policy, law, business, fashion, medicine, and more. All of our Members share a common interest in learning more about art and The Met's encyclopedic collections within a social and educational setting that encourages friendly discourse across many disciplines.

The Met Family Circle is a special Membership group for families with children up to age 12. The program offers children an introduction to The Met's extensive collection and an opportunity to further their appreciation of the visual arts. Parents receive a variety of additional benefits.

Proceeds from Met Family Circle Membership dues support the general operations of the Museum, including a diverse schedule of special exhibitions, conservation of the Museum's unparalleled collection, and more than twenty thousand educational programs annually.

Your Met Family Circle Membership is valid for one year from the date you enroll. Events and special programs are scheduled primarily to coincide with the school year, and your Membership privileges are valid throughout the year.

A variety of exclusive events are offered to Met Family Circle Members during the year, including evening programs in the galleries with curators and educators; complimentary tickets to the Pajama Party and The Family Benefit; a private family tour in the galleries; and a selection of private workshops with gallery viewings followed by sketching and studio projects.

Met Family Circle activities are designed primarily for children up to age 12. Member families often have children ranging in age from 2 to 14, and we offer activities and programs designed to appeal to children in this broad age range.
